About Me

I was never much of a writer in high school, but I had a passion for sports and excelled in my English classes. During my freshman year at the University of Hawaii, I enrolled in a mandatory English course and found myself enjoying the process of learning how to write at a collegiate level. For my final project, I decided to take on an argumentative sports essay, for which I received a perfect score. My professor at the time recommended that I look into a career in sports writing and I declared as a Journalism major shortly after.

During my sophomore and junior years, I focused on developing my skills as a sports reporter by writing at the university's student newspaper, Ka Leo, and covering Oahu's high school sports for ScoringLive. As a senior, I expanded my journalistic experience through a plethora of courses, internships, and fieldwork. I delved into investigative journalism for the student publication Hoa Oahu, where I wrote long-form articles on illegal practices happening around the island. I developed my on-air presence as an anchor and live-reporter for UHMTV, while producing 30-minute news segments which aired on the local television station KFVE. I also worked as an assistant and editor for the university's Media Production Lab, where I honed my skills in Adobe Creative Cloud.

After graduating with a BA in Journalism, I took a job offer at a digital marketing agency called Cleverwolf Digital. During my time there I was responsible for working directly with clients to create a wide-rage of content to help sell and promote their product. This included writing copy for e-mail blasts and client websites, creating brochures and fliers, responding to customer reviews on sites such as Yelp, running client social media accounts, creating marketing collateral and proposals, and more.

In my current position as the marketing coordinator for Waikele Country Club, I am responsible for the day-to-day management, implementation, and tracking of the integrated marketing plan for the club's golf course and restaurant. My daily tasks include managing the SEO and website content for golfwaikele.com, coordinating campaigns across various communication channels, and creating daily social media content while assessing analytics to plan and implement creative growth strategies. I'm also responsible for creating the club's marketing collateral, coordinating promotions and vendor projects including photography and videography, and handling customer service interactions via social media, Yelp, and Google.

My goal is to continuously improve my ability as a marketing content creator while expanding my knowledge in the field. I am constantly looking for ways to apply what I've learned from my background in journalism to my career in marketing and look forward to my next opportunity to do so.
